These beautiful hand-loomed sarong wraps have been dyed with natural dyes by our artisan partners in Gujarat, India using the ancient Indian textile technique of Bandhani.
Derived from the Indian words for “typing up”, Bhandani is a tie dye technique that involves the meticulous tying and knotting of fabric before submersion in the dye. The most widely used technique, the “bindi” technique, is formed by pinching and wrapping tiny dots of fabric that are left unpenetrated by the dye, creating a visual and textural design.
These sarongs were made by artisans working from their home as part of a collective, with women most often responsible for the tying of the fabric before the men then add the fabric to the dye.
This versatile wrap can be used as a sarong, towel or as bed or window decoration.
Made using hand-loom cotton (machine-spun warp, hand-spun weft).
Each product takes anywhere between 20-25 days for the bandhani process to be completed depending on the complexity of the design.
Please follow the care-instructions label to protect this delicate and intricate fabric.
