The softest 16ply cotton jumper, hand-knitted in the foothills of the Himalayas in Northern India by local women artisans of the region.
The yarn used is a special hand-spun cotton variety, known as Kala cotton – the original pure old world cotton of India. Kala cotton is indigenous to Kachchh and by default organic, as the farmers do not use any pesticides and synthetic fertilisers. It is a purely rain-fed crop that has a high tolerance for both disease and pests, and requires minimal investment. It is both resilient and resurgent in the face of stressful land conditions.
The yarn is scoured using bio-enzymes and further dyed using natural dyes. Harvested rainwater heated by solar energy is used at all stages of yarn processing.
The dyes used are Sappanwood, Indigo, Turmeric and Myrobalan and have been extracted from natural origins from various parts of India.
